Welcome to the Under the Lucky Trees blog created by Marcee and Andy. It is aptly named to acknowledge the space we share with a Giant Sequioa, and expansive Norway King Crimson Maple and a twin trunk Hemlock. They all provide beauty, shelter, and shade in addition to endless hours of bird watching, tree hugging, deep appreciation for their magnificence, and luck! We feel blessed and lucky to have found this house in Southwest Portland in the spring of 2023. Its current residents include Marcee, Andy, William, Chan as well as many crows, squirrels, and hummingbirds.
Slowly but surely we are transforming the gardens to prepare space for a kiln so that, once again, Andy can resume his beautiful work as a ceramicist. We will demolish the garage to create a pottery studio, and will eventually transform the house. In the meantime, we love our little Portland cottage with views of the Lucky Trees and Mount Tabor.
